Hope this finds you safe and with electricity. So many of us in the greater Seattle area have been affected by the record wind storm earlier this week. I've spoken to many clients that have had damage to property, and some of us are still without power. If recommendations are needed for anything, don't hesitate to reach out.
The days are shorter, rates are back up again, and the world is full of mystery. In a time of change, I turn toward things that are known, versus sitting too long in the unknown.
One of those known things is real estate history. The Northwest MLS is our local real estate marketplace, a central depository for the majority of the homes listed and sold in our region. As NWMLS has grown, so has the data that we have to look back on. As part of their 40-year anniversary, they published an article about home prices since the 1980s, which I have linked below. It’s quite shocking to revisit prices even 10 years ago, much less 40!
I’m also sharing the current median sales price for the largest cities in Washington. It’s striking to see how much the prices of homes compare across the state, but the most remarkable is the city of Bellevue, which is now more than twice the median of Seattle, and nearly 4.5 times the price in Spokane—now the second largest city in the state.
