I’m writing today with a special invitation to join Ensemble’s effort to support local food resources through our upcoming Front Porch Food Bank campaign.
As you are surely aware, economic and employment uncertainty are driving high numbers of our neighbors into food insecurity. This comes as the region’s food banks are experiencing high levels of demand for their resources at the same time government and charitable funding is being pulled back. Washington State, several municipalities, and private donors are stretching to maintain basic services.
We believe that collectively we can be part of a bridge solution.
On Thursday, November 20th, Ensemble brokers will be spreading out across Seattle and neighboring cities to pick up donations directly from our clients and friends. If you live in Kirkland, Redmond, Bellevue, Woodinville, Sammamish or Issaquah, you’re still able to participate even though those cities are not listed below. We’re making special arrangements for Eastside pickups. These donated items will be delivered to the nearest of the five food banks listed above. The shelf-stable goods requested by the organizations are listed below and will provide immediate relief to those in need.
Another meaningful way to participate is by making a direct financial contribution to the food bank of your choosing. Links to all five partner organizations are available on our website. This is a great option if you live outside our pick up area.
Here’s how you can help in three simple steps:
-
Decide if you’d like to make a food donation, a financial donation—or both.
-
Register your participation by Sunday, Nov. 16. www.frontporchfoodbank.com
-
Act on November 20th by placing bagged or boxed food out for pick up and/or making a direct donation.
It feels impossibly insufficient to say that we’re living in a challenging time. In fact, your household might be struggling with the same vulnerabilities that we’re attempting to address. If you have the capacity to join us in this effort, your contribution—at any level—will be deeply appreciated - Phillip
